This year’s White Pine Ride date is being changed to Saturday, October 2, 2021. Our third-annual event is being moved because a 3-10ths of one mile portion of the the trail just south of Ashton is scheduled to be closed for several months while the a culvert is replaced and the gravel is paved.
We are excited about this new date, as it coincides with the beginning of the fall color season in northern Michigan. The White Pine Trail typically bursts fourth in color about this time, particularly in low-lying areas. We are adjusting the ride times to make this more of an afternoon ride, followed by a late afternoon picnic.
We are also excited to announce that the Cadillac Rotary Club has been able to donate $8,000 in proceeds from our first two rides to the Friends of the White Pine Trail. They are using these funds — along with others the club is providing — to build a new picnic shelter at the E. 41 Road trailhead in Cadillac. We expect this to be completed by the time of the ride.
